Carmi Rifle Club Steel Shoot
Saturday, Nov. 28th Carmi Rifle Club will be hosting a steel shoot, a new handgun shooting sport which combines accuracy and speed. This action packed sport consists of hitting five 10-inch and 12-inch round steel targets and a 18x24 inch square plate set at distances of 7 to 20 yards. Participants are scored on the time it takes them to shoot all five targets. The last target shot, the 18x24 target, is called the "stop plate" which stops the timer. Shooters must hit all five targets and each shot over five incurs a half second penalty.
The event will include two stages of five targets each with the shooter starting from the holster or low ready position. Each shooter will fire four relays at each of the two stages with a minimum of 40 rounds fired over all. The three fastest times from each stage will averaged - fastest time wins! This is fast paced adrenalin packed fun for the whole family.
Categories will include centerfire, rimfire, optics, and open sights.
Cost is $5.00 per shooter per two-stage game and is open to the public. All persons on the range must wear eye and ear protection and must bring their own ammo and handguns.
The event will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be supervised by certified range safety officers. For more information please contact Todd Maricle at 618-384-7524.
